This is Lily supervising the bottling (jar-ing?) of the long weekend's hard work. I decided not to go to Auckland for the long weekend, and having made that decision our neighbours dropped off (unprompted) two full shopping bags of ripe plums. Clearly my weekend was supposed to be spent at home. We ended up with over 7 kg of pitted and chopped plums - 4kg into plum jam, 2 kg into chilli plum sauce and 1 kg into plum & rhubarb jam. Woah - that is a lot of sterilising jars and washing sticky dishes. Dont even ask about the purple sticky spotted walls from tipping hot, lumpy jam into tiny baby food jars!! It seemed like a good idea at the time.....

Wow - good effort! I picked all the plums off our damson tree at the weekend (all 8kg of them!). I've made a double batch of chutney, but there is still a whole lot in our fridge. Mmm, plum and rhubarb jam sounds good!
